Meet your trainer
Natalie King PTA, CIMT, ACSM-CPT
The first 26 years of my career were spent as a Licensed Physical Therapist Assistant in MD and NY, primarily in outpatient orthopedics.
As a former competitive triathlete and having recovered from a serious injury, I know firsthand how important it is to maintain our mobility and strength as we age.
Many common injuries can be prevented by correcting and improving muscle imbalances, body mechanics, posture, mobility and ergonomics.
Now retired from health care, I am excited to bring that depth of insight and experience into the arena of personal training. I look forward to working with you!
Experience
I graduated from college in 1996 from a Physical Therapist Assistant program. I have always had a passion for learning and teaching, especially when it comes to the intricacies of the human body.
The more you discover, the more you want to learn! This led me to pursue advanced training and certifications during my career in Physical Therapy.
I specialized in the following:
Skilled hands-on techniques: including myofascial release, trigger point release, muscle energy technique, positional release, joint mobilizations, nerve tension release, PNF (proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation), mobilizations with movement … and more!
Functional movement assessments and treatment
Video analysis of walking, running & cycling
Aquatic physical therapy
Vestibular Therapy
Ergonomic presentations and individual assessments
Injury prevention seminars for triathlon training camps
My patients ranged from the office worker to professional athletes, teens to the elderly.
In 2016 as a hobby I started teaching dance classes to adults at my local fitness center. After noticing improvements in how they felt and moved, some of the students asked if I would teach a class dedicated to stretch and mobility. The response to this new self-massage and mobility class was huge! Classes were packed to capacity and more were on a waiting list.
This sparked my desire to shift my professional focus from treating injury to preventing injury.
